Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of a team of 3–5 staff.
- Oversee operation of specialised processing equipment, ensuring optimal efficiency and minimal downtime.
- Ensure all site operations meet environmental, safety, and compliance standards.
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of machinery.
- Maintain compliance with local regulations relating to resource management and environmental services.
- Transport & Logistics Coordination
- Plan and manage transport schedules for material movement and logistics.
- Liaise with transport providers, drivers, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
- Optimise routing and scheduling to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain accurate transport and dispatch records.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, train, and support staff to ensure high performance and adherence to procedures.
- Allocate tasks and monitor productivity.
- Address performance issues and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Foster a positive and safety-focused team culture.
- Equipment & Facility Management
- Monitor condition and performance of processing equipment.
- Coordinate routine maintenance and report faults promptly.
- Ensure site cleanliness, organisation, and operational readiness at all times.
- Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of material volumes, transport logs, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare reports for management on operations, incidents, and performance metrics.
- Assist with audits and inspections as required.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will bring a blend of leadership and industrial expertise:
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within resource recovery, recycling, logistics, or a similar industrial environment.
- Experience operating or overseeing cardboard balers or similar machinery.
- Knowledge of specialised or regulated material handling requirements.
- Strong transport scheduling and logistics coordination experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills managing small teams.
- Solid understanding of WHS and environmental regulations.
- Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
